ECO-Challenge

E – Experience – learn new skills and facts

C – Co-operate - work as a team

O – Observe - notice the local environment

The Eco Challenge is an annual experiential learning event hosted by the Harvest Moon Society and held in conjunction with the Harvest Moon Festival.

Each year, the Harvest Moon Society invites grade 7 and 8 students and their teachers from the surrounding school divisions as well as the homeschool community to participate in a series of workshops based on science curriculum.

Workshops are hosted by volunteer experts who share information, stories, and ideas to help the students build an understanding about the topics.

Past events have included workshop topics such as:

  1. Climate Change

  2. Food Miles

  3. Soils

  4. Forest Management

  5. Surveying and GPS

  6. Pollinators

  7. Seed starting

  8. Water systems

  9. Hiking the Lessons from the Land Trail

The Eco-Challenge is an important part of the annual calendar at the Harvest Moon Society, and each year we look forward to welcoming students and their teachers to Clearwater for this fun and exciting day of learning.
