The date for this year’s gathering at Agrarian After Dark is almost upon us and the Fibre Arts Retreat is right around the corner. Our Artist Residency Open Call is also looming, and we’re now accepting applications for the Harvest Moon Scholarship as well as our summer Green Team position (pending funding). Agrarian After Dark

Harvest Moon Society, Young Agrarians, The Dogs Run Farm, Manitoba Organics, and Fireweed Food Coop have put together an evening to build connections between rural producers and urban consumers in the local food and fiber community. The event will feature presentations by active producers and members of the ecological agricultural community, and allow for conversation and connection in a fun, informal setting including food and refreshments. Everyone is welcome!

Teaching Professor of International Development Studies and Environmental Studies at CMU & co-owner of Prairie Lights Shared Farm Kenton Lobe has been tabbed as MC for the evening and our confirmed presenters include:

• David Scott - Elder and Historian, Swan Lake First Nation

• Connor English - Manitoba Territory Manager for Covers & Co and Cattle Rancher

• Marika Dewar-Norosky -  Executive Director for Manitoba Organics and Organic Grain Farmer at Belly Acres

• Katie McInnes - The Dogs Run Farm

• Jennifer deGroot - Big Oak Farm

Agrarian After Dark will take place at The Park Theatre on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Tickets are on sale now!

Doors will open at 5:30pm with local food available (included in ticket price) and drinks. There will be time to mix and mingle before farmer presentations begin at 6:30pm. There will be a Q&A session after the presentations and time to socialize and connect to close out the evening.

Farmer Supporter - $100 - two tickets and promotion of your farm logo at the event

Gold Supporter - $50 - 1 ticket and a $25 donation receipt from Harvest Moon Society

Silver Support - $25 - 1 ticket and you help support the event

Fibre Arts Retreat

There are still a few spots available at the Fibre Arts Retreat that will be held January 30 & 31 at the Harvest Moon Learning Centre in Clearwater, MB.

Friday evening will be focused on English paper piercing (handstitching). Saturday morning will be a wet felting demonstration and in the afternoon we’ll be hosting the United Community Arts Creative Souls gathering.

Cost to attend is $25 plus a potluck item. Accommodations are available.

Harvest Moon Annual General Meeting

The Harvest Moon Society Annual General Meeting will be held virtually this year via Zoom on Tuesday, February 10 at 7pm.

At the AGM, the 2025 Financial Report will be presented, followed by the ratification of the 2026 Budget. The 2025 Activities Report will be discussed, followed by a vote on By-Law Amendments. The board will be proposing an amendment to Article 13: Terms of Office, changing the term length from two to three years, and changing from a three term limit (6 year max) to a four term limit (12 year max). The exact wording of the motion will be distributed to HMS members no less than fourteen (14) days prior to the meeting, as per the By-Laws.

Harvest Moon Scholarship

The Harvest Moon Society is excited to once again be offering the Harvest Moon Scholarship.

We're offering three (3) scholarships of $500 each to youth aged 17-21 who reside within the boundaries of Manitoba for furthering their knowledge or education related to regenerative agriculture, sustainable food systems, or environmental stewardship. Examples of further education may include, but are not limited to: tuition at an educational institution, and/or registration for a course or conference.

To apply, please answer the following question:
How would you use $500 to further your knowledge or education in the areas of regenerative agriculture, sustainable food systems, and/or environmental stewardship and why is this important to you?

The format of your application is up to you: you could answer in an essay, video, slideshow, or in any other format in which you feel comfortable. We ask that you limit your application to the equivalent of 2 written pages or 2 minutes of video/audio.

Summer Green Team

Harvest Moon is looking to hire a Green Team worker to help us keep the grounds in great shape this summer at the Harvest Moon Learning Centre.

The position will primarily be focused on mowing, weeding, planting, watering, and harvesting but will also include being involved in our summer youth programming and other events that we hold in July and August.
