January was a busy month with the Agrarian After Dark event and Fibre Arts Retreat, along with a couple facility rentals from folks looking to get out on the Clearwater Valley Trails. In the first part of February, we held our AGM and released our Annual Report. You can find a link to that down below, along with some event announcements and employment opportunities. Agrarian After Dark

The third Agrarian After Dark event might’ve been the best one yet. Harvest Moon Society, Young Agrarians, The Dogs Run Farm, Manitoba Organics, and Fireweed Food Coop would like to thank everyone who came out to The Park Theatre on a Saturday night in the middle of January to talk about agriculture, including our presenters, our sponsors, and everyone who purchased a ticket (and especially our Gold and Silver contributors).

We weren’t sure how this idea would go over when it first came up a few years ago and we’re continually blown away by the interest. So we’ll start planning for next year! Hope to see you there.

Patriarchy on Trial

This light-hearted reader’s theatre production was a hit at the 2024 Harvest Moon Festival and we’re working with our friends at United Community Arts to bring it back for International Women’s Day.

Join us at 1pm on Sunday, March 8 at the United Community Arts building at 148 Moffatt Avenue in Pilot Mound. All are welcome, there will be silver collection at the door.

Harvest Moon Seed Exchange is back!

Join us, near or far, in a community seed exchange - swap seeds you have saved or stock up on new varieties.

Send us your seeds and we’ll mail you a variety in return!

Mail us your seeds and a $5 donation to cover postage and receive a variety seeds in exchange through the mail. Or you send a $30 donation if you don’t have seeds to share. Don’t forget to include you return address.

Deadline is March 20.

Work Bee

Every spring we invite folks out to Clearwater to help us get our grounds and gardens in shape for the growing season. This year we’ll need even more hands as we team up with the Clearwater and District Nursery School to rejuvenate the area around our play structure.

Mark Saturday, April 25 on your calendar and come put some elbow grease into the Harvest Moon Learning Centre.

Harvest Moon Scholarship

The Harvest Moon Society is excited to once again be offering the Harvest Moon Scholarship.

We're offering three (3) scholarships of $500 each to youth aged 17-21 who reside within the boundaries of Manitoba for furthering their knowledge or education related to regenerative agriculture, sustainable food systems, or environmental stewardship. Examples of further education may include, but are not limited to: tuition at an educational institution, and/or registration for a course or conference.

To apply, please answer the following question:
How would you use $500 to further your knowledge or education in the areas of regenerative agriculture, sustainable food systems, and/or environmental stewardship and why is this important to you?

The format of your application is up to you: you could answer in an essay, video, slideshow, or in any other format in which you feel comfortable. We ask that you limit your application to the equivalent of 2 written pages or 2 minutes of video/audio.

Backyard Pruning Workshop

We’re collaborating with our friends at Wooden Gate Cider to put on a backyard pruning workshop over in their orchard. Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 12 and be sure to register soon as there are limited spots available.

Summer Green Team

Harvest Moon is looking to hire a Green Team worker to help us keep the grounds in great shape this summer at the Harvest Moon Learning Centre.

The position will primarily be focused on mowing, weeding, planting, watering, and harvesting but will also include being involved in our summer youth programming and other events that we hold in July and August.
