To try and be less reliant on social media (at least until we can find a space that more aligns with our values and vision), we’re going to move to a monthly newsletter rather than the quarterly plan we’ve had for the last little while. We’ll still post for the time being but we hope more people will visit our webpage and we’ll do our best to keep you up-to-date via these newsletters. Please forward this email on and encourage folks to sign up to stay informed.

Agrarian After Dark 2025

A giant thank you to all who sponsored, supported, or attended our second Agrarian After Dark event on Sat, Feb 1. It feels like a real accomplishment to have 200 people in a room discussing farming on a Saturday night.

Organizational discussions are already happening for next year’s event. If you have any thoughts on this event or would like to be involved, either as a presenter or a sponsor, please reach out.

HMS Scholarship

Harvest Moon is excited to once again offer three scholarships of $500 to youth aged 17 to 21 in Manitoba who are looking to further their knowledge or education related to regenerative agriculture, sustainable food systems, and environmental stewardship. We’ve tried to make this program as accessible as possible and to make the application process super easy.

If you know of any youth who might be interested, please pass it along! More info and application details (and samples from past recipients) can be found on the HMS website.

Seed Swap and Winter Family Fun Day

This weekend (Saturday, February 23 from 3pm to 7pm) at the Harvest Moon Learning Centre we’re holding a Seed Swap and Family Fun Day, with cross-country skiing/snow-shoeing/hiking on the Clearwater Valley Trails, tobogganing, hot chocolate, and a seed swap!

Summer Green Team Hiring

We’ve submitted an application to the Urban/Hometown Green Team and, pending approval, we’ll be looking for someone to join us in Clearwater to help keep the grounds and facility looking great. If you’re interested in prepping, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, and processing and are looking for work in July and August, drop us a line.

Seed Exchange

We’re once again holding our Seed Exchange by mail. If you have extra seeds, you can send them to us and we’ll send you back some different ones. If you just need seeds and don’t have any to trade, that’s ok, we can send you some anyhow.

You can also visit the Harvest Moon table at Winnipeg Seedy Saturday at the Millennium Library on Saturday, March 8 from 10:30am to 3:30pm. Linda and Angie will have packs of seeds to give away as well as info on Harvest Moon and the Harvest Moon Learning Centre!

Louise Recreation Babysitting Course

The Municipality of Louise Recreation District will be holding a Babysitting Course at the Harvest Moon Learning Centre on Saturday, April 5. If you know of someone who is interested, have them contact Rec Director Kelsey McLaren at louise_rec@hotmail.com or call 204-245-0680.
