InFARMation II: Backyard Chickens
Should chickens be classified as exotic animals, along with venomous reptiles and all members of the order Crocodilia? Join us November 30th at The Academy for the latest instalment of our InFARMation (and Beer!) series to talk about backyard chickens as a local food issue. Brought to you by the Harvest Moon Local Food Initiative featuring Chickens for WinnipEGGers.
Tuesday, November 30th, 2010
7:00 pm
The Academy (437 Stradbrook Ave, Winnipeg, MB)
Admission for InFARMation (and Beer!) is always FREE.
The backyard chicken issue is an ongoing debate in cities across North America. A couple of backyard hens can provide enough fresh eggs to for the whole family, and what is more local than your own back yard? The Chickens for WinnipEGGers group will present on the practical side of keeping hens in one’s backyard, and their experience in attempting to pass an ammendment on the Exotic Animal bylaw in the city of Winnipeg.
InFARMation is going to be a fun, casual evening to kick back and learn a few things. To prove it, we’ve got great music, community booths, and a free raffle to enjoy while you all slurp back a few $3.50 Half Pints and enjoy the local food special straight from the farm… provided by farmers of the Harvest Moon Local Food Initiative.
