The inaugural InFARMation (and Beer!) focused on building a more sustainable and local food system in Winnipeg and beyond. With all of the great work that local community organizations are doing right now to work towards food security, there exists a great opportunity for support of this work and help Winnipeg move forward.

This InFARMation (and Beer!) featured a lively ‘debate’-style presentation from Brendan Reimer (CCEDNet) and Stefan Epp (Manitoba Alternative Food Research Alliance), who spoke about some of the practical policies and solutions our city can undertake to work towards a more local and just food system. Keeping in line with the theme of the municipal election, they “debated” topics like urban agriculture, purchasing policy, food infrastructure, education, and a food policy council for our city. The even also featured the musical stylings of local singer songwriter Ben Wytinck. This first event took place on October 19, 2010 at The Academy (437 Stradrbook).
